Summertime is full of laughter and splashing water. Growing up, all I wanted to do was spend the day at the pool. Cool water under the full sun and friends rough housing. I greatly disliked the ten minutes every hour we had to stop playing for the adults to have a swim. Now, as the adult, I appreciate those few minutes I can actually swim in the pool and not be bumped or splashed by kids.
My favorite thing about summer is taking a beach trip and swimming in the ocean. I lived in a landlocked mountain state as a child. The beach was a mystical place of flat, sandy beaches and warm water that surrounded you in a cocoon. I didn’t get to visit very often but I harbored a secret dream of owning a beach house so I could swim every day.
I don’t have that beach house but I married a man who loves the beach like I do. We try to go every year or two and the kids love hanging out at the hotel. They don’t want to walk on the sand or be in ocean, but they like the hotel pool. At least they like swimming.
My current work-in-progress is the third novella in my Paranormals of Arilase series. It features a mermaid heroine who lives and draws power from the deepest waters of the seven seas. She’ll discover love on an uncharted island, fight mutated creatures and help her people defeat a powerful land-dwelling sorcerer. I’m almost finished with the rough draft and hope to have the release in late fall.
Explore the forests of Arilase in Healer’s Fate and Enchantress’ Destiny.
